Vegvisir Race Nyborg Unveils a New Course Format for Singlehanded Skippers

Starting in 2025, Vegvisir Race Nyborg will feature an exciting new course structure for singlehanded participants. In contrast to previous years, where singlehanded sailors faced a fresh course annually (similar to the 2Star participants), they will now sail a consistent route year after year. This change introduces the opportunity for skippers to set and beat records, adding a layer of competitive excitement as perpetual trophies will be awarded to those who achieve the fastest times in various categories.

"We want to challenge our singlehanded participants and encourage them to master the course," says Morten Brandt from Shorthand ECM. "This approach allows skippers to strategize, knowing they can research optimal routes and potential shortcuts, balancing risk and reward. From the feedback we’ve received, singlehanded sailors are eager to compete—not only against fellow skippers on race day but also against the clock, aiming to see their names engraved on the trophy."

The course will be long, presenting a formidable challenge, and details will be announced before the presale for Vegvisir Race Nyborg 2025 opens on Friday, November 29, 2024.
